Haha, wow really? Man the EPA has MUCH bigger things to worry about in the US than people without cats. They probably should do that, but they don't. The only thing you have to worry aobut if you dont have a cat here is being told by the exhaust shop doing your smog check to go home and fix it, then try again another day.

Amrit, the reason why we should use cats is because it doesn't really restrict power, that's just the common conception. In a normally aspirated protege, it might take away 1/2 a hp, but it will give you more low end torque, so it's an even trade. Also, as I have learned from personaly experience lately, running with no cats makes the car sound like total ***.

damn serious??

here the cops r always out in force checkin the modified cars.... seriously... unless ur within legal guidelins ur fudged... u get a defect notice and have to take it to get cleared.... which involves a full test usually... and EPA fine for no cat = $10 000 or something australian... its quite insane hehe

I have absolutely no idea how much $10,000 Australian is, but I think it's a lot around the world, lol.

I have no idea. I've heard it with a header and no cats, and it sounds pretty ricey, I must say (sorry luke), but with a cat, it might sound okay.

Heh, in Trinidad whether you have a cat or not is no big deal, that's why I have a dog instead...LOL.

Anyway thanks for the knowledge Anarchistchiken.
