Egg like odor?

Egg like odor? 2003 MP5
I have a brand new 2003 MP5 2.0L Automatic Sport shift. I have noticed at times when driving or stopped, I can smell an odor similiar to eggs, for a while! What does this mean? Should I be concerned? Anyone else experience this?

Poor quality fuel has been recognized to cause any of the above conditions. High sulfur content fuel has been recognized to cause exhaust rotten egg odor or sulfur odor conditions. Oxygenated fuels which are used in many areas of the country may have a distinctive odor. The objective of oxygenated fuels is to reduce tail pipe emissions of carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide in the atmosphere, especially during winter months when it is at its highest levels, can affect the health of people with heart disease and respiratory problems. The oxygenated fuels contain oxygen compounds that make combustion more efficient while lowering carbon monoxide levels in the atmosphere.
Experimenting with different fuel brands is the best solution to the problem. Once the proper fuel is used, the ordor disappears.
There are many articles available on the net that suggest that North American gasoline is some of the dirtiest fuel out there, believe it or not!

I also had the sulfur like smell when I first got my P5. I was told some parts of the engine were coated with something. I would guess probably to prevent surface corosion before the sale of the car. Apparently the smell was just the coating burning off.
Anyways, the smell I had is gone an thats all that matters. Your cars new, I wouldn't worry 'bout it.

Still Smells!!!!????
Well I have now 10,000KM on my P5, and still smells like eggs every once and a while. Starting to get tired of telling everyone that gets in the car that it is the cat converter, as they push the automatic windows open. Dealer says it' normal. I said I didn't buy a new car for it to smell so bad, they told me again it is normal, and should disappear after awhile! Maybe I should let them drive it, maybe they will get tired of the smell too! I've tried switching gasoline brands, but it didn't make a difference! Another BS line from MAZDA, not wanting to warranty!

Ya dude, its your cat. There are additives for your gas you can put it to fix that. I remember I bought some for my 94 sundance duster that smelled like marshmellows. To this day I still want my darn smores....
