Talking CEL gone!

Hey all, I get confused with all the Protege forums, I thought I was registered here but Im registered on Club Protege, and also MSProtege.com, but enough about that. Thought Id post my CEL issues here as well. I have a 99 ES 5spd, with an AEM SRI, AWR header, and a custom 2.25" SS header back exhaust, alson have the extended reach plugs, Magnecor wires, 1sty's full ground kit in blue, Optima red top, Eibach prokits, KYB struts, B&M SS, team Voodoo spun pearl shift ****, Power stop slotted rotors, EBC green stuff pads and Falken Ziex ZE-512s. Anyway long story short, last year I put on the AWR header which eliminates the first cat, pretty soon after that I threw a CEL. I tried everything over the past year, including replacing both O2 sensors, 2 pony express performance mil eliminators, the do it yourself mil eliminator, etc. etc. Last week I found about the mechanical CEL fix and it worked! Just installed it this morning and have started the car 3 times and driven 20 or so miles and no CEL, used to come on right after the code was cleared. Next goal 1 tank of gas without cel then a 1000 miles without a CEL. Anyway thanks for listening, oh and thanks to Rodimus Prime for getting me to this forum. Thanks Nik

you used the "non-fouler" technique and the CEL went away? I've seen them used on other cars and not do anything. I've sold and installed several MIL eliminators from our member "vielster"...not one car has had a problem with them. Are you sure you wired yours up correctly?

Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you.

Im fairly sure they were wired correctly, I had my mechanic do all of it and they were installed on my original O2 sensor and a brand new one I bought after I thought the original was dead. I dunno, hopefully this fix will work. Who makes the MIL eliminator you sell? Thanks for the welcome, always nice to have lots of places to search for answers and answer a few myself. Hows the SC? Nik

Vielster (member here) makes them. He's an EE and his stuff is real nice and neat. I think I've installed about 6 of his now.

The SC is awesome man, you should check for the stickied thread in the 3rd gen engine/performance section for info...newest update is I dyno tomorrow.
