Smile cai

I just got my injen intake and I'm stoked about putting it on. I'm a little worried though because the car is so new and I've never done anything like this before. Does anyone have any suggestions besides getting the instructions from Protege5 online?

Thanks goes out to Sweeden House for the info about Speed Concept in Aloha, Or. I got this intake for the low cost of $180.00

Whatever you do, dont drive through large puddles with it on. Im talking like 1 foot puddles and ****! I know from experience, It floods bad down here in houston. I drove through a flooded street and sucked water in the CAI! Dont mean to scare ya, but I just wanna let you know, besides that the Intake is bad-***! I love it.

just go slow when doing it your first time... make sure you understand the instructions clearly, read them 5x if you have to. just don't take chances and it should work out. 1 year ago i had no clue how to do anything to a car let alone install a CAI, but you learn if you WANT to learn. its very easy

As stated....take your time during the install....take notice of the specific way the MAF is installed...and ensure you put it back in the same way...it makes a difference which way the air flows through it.

also.....its not a bad idea to reset your ECU....that way you won't get a check engine light for sure.....to do that just disconnect the NEGITIVE terminal of your battery...hop in the car...turn on the ignition.....press the brakes a few times (this discharges a few capacitors) then turn the ignition off...and go and do your install of the intake...when you get done just hook the negitive terminal back up.....then when you start the car allow it to idle for about 10 minutes and you are all set.

happy curisin!

Okay, I got it all installed. It feels, sounds, and looks great. Next project is an MTX 81000D.

Might want to look in to bypass valve to prevent water from getting in.

by-pass valve

I've read what people have had to say about by-pass valves and I've decided not to get one. I live in Yakima, Washington, which is almost a desert. I don't think it has rained for at least 2 months here and when it does it rains hard but not for very long. If I know it's going to rain I'll drive my truck.

I do have a question about water and the Injen intake though. As I was installing the intake I noticed my engine is really getting dirty. Is it okay to pressure wash my engine now that I have the CAI installed? I can't stand to see dust and stuff all overy my engine.

YES, just like you did before...but as always...do NOT blast water on components that are damaged by water.....i wouldn't directly blast water on my intake filter, nor any electronics that sort of thing.
