Rust Question

I have rust already on the aluminum cover on the headers and the bolts in and around that. Is that normal?

Just to let you know aluminum does not rust. The most common form of corrosion on aluminum is surface pitting. In the case of the heat shield, its called heat stress. The bolts will turn brown due to the heat, and will rust because they are steel. The best way to fit them is to remove them, wire brush them them, them put a high temp corrosion preventive on it. Then some high temp paint. I am in the Navy and I work on Airplanes, so I know alot about the subject.
