Auto Transmission mods

Are there any mods for the auto transmission itself on the 3rd gen, like a shift kit or stall converter or something??????????

they are VERY similar but not identical. There is a huge thread discussin the differences between the focus tranny and the protege tranny. I think MacDaddy knows a good bit about them.

Here's the rules though....

use good fluid (synthetic with a high tolerance for heat...i.e. redline)

keep up line pressure (valve body)

run a small tranny cooler to lower temps.

I asked macdaddy he didnt know much at all. The site lists the products are for the

4F27E/FN4A-EL
Focus/Protege

So if for some reason it didnt fit (even though im sure it will) you could return it.

Ok, thanks a ton, their site says extremely similar to proteges so there must be some slight difference

A 'shift kit' BACK IN THE DAY consisted of a few ball bearings and a new gasket for the valve body to change when/how hard the tranny shifted.

They work. My 72 Impala w/ 350 and the turbo-hydro350 could 'catch second' (albeit a small bark! ) after the kit. I was well pleased as a pimply BIg Country Pimp in my jacked-up (with coil sping spacers) primer-black 8-track playing 'Boston' with a 'booster/EQ' putting out 10%THD... sigh.

Is ti worth it for our cars? Prob'ly not. Spend the dough on engine mods. (My $.02 worth...)
