auto to manual tranny swap

Hey wsup. quick question. My friend has a 2000 es pro with A 2.0 and auto tranny. Were going to convert it to a manual tranny. He has all the parts needed for the swap but we were told that the ecu would have to be changed to the one in the es 5speed and the wiring harness has to be changed. The only thing that looks different is some sort of wire plug that connects to the auto tranny that must measure something . I dont have that plug on my p5 manual tranny wsup with that. Can the swap be done leaving that unplugged or will it screw something up. what about the computer does that need to be changed. Also i heard the axles are different from auto to manual is this true. Can someone please help bye the way were using a G15mr tranny, centerforce clutch and fidanza flywheel hopefully it will all work out hes dumped alot of money into this frankenstein

That plug probably goes to the ECU and controls the lock up on the converter as well as controlling the shift points based on engine load. The manual doesn't need anything except a speedo sensor. That's probably one of the reasons you will have to change over to the manual ECU.
