3rd gear grind fixed for 20.00

well as we all know our trans are not the best, and i am pretty sure that alot of people have a problem with third gear grinding. my 3rd gear grinded at any rpm unless i hesitated before i put it in gear. i tried all types of trans fluids and nothing worked. my friend recommended that i use 2 quarts of penzoil sencromesh and a quart of lucas oil stabilizer. lets just say he is now my best friend. my 3rd gear does not grind at all, and every other gear shifts smoother than silk. i thought i was going to need another tranny rebuild, which would be number 3, but for 20.00 i got a trans that shifts great with no grinds. so if anyone has tranny grinds, give this a shot because it worked for me. the first few minutes of shifting, it grinded a little bit, but after that the grind went away and now it goes right in. just thought i would share this because i dont think that i am the only one with trans problems. just my two cents. craig

what kind of noise did it make? My car is an automatic and whenever it shifts from second to third it makes a loud "skweek" would that constitute grinding?

yeah if i had a t5 nothing would save it when it started to grind. lol. all i know is that i might be the happiest kid alive because i can actually drive like a normal human being and not look like i cant drive stick. i have a 5 spd trans and it just made a grinding noise.

I have a 5spd too and never had a 3 third gear grind. I race my car all the time and no problem. I use red line MT90 gear oil and its great.

i guess when i first got the car and drove like an a$$ that was the reason why my trans went. now i just want to ge from point a to point b. i guess power shifting this trans was not a good idea. lol oh well if anyone has a problem with grindage, give this a try it worked for me and a couple of my friends, so maybe it will work for u too.
