engine question

i have a question on the compatibility of two motors.

since the 1.6 in the 2000 protege has the same dimensions as the 1.6 turbo motors on older escorts and proteges could i swap the motors?

not to be rude, if noone knows the anwser dont post anything useless you know where to find the it.

Thank You....

it has the same dimensions?? as far as I know they are totally different engines. It could possibly work but you'd need to do a lot of cross referencing at your local dealer.
