Miata

I read in the FAQ's about some interchangable cams from a Miata. Does anyone have any ideas here if that is even worth the trouble. I have 2000 lx 1.6. In the FAQ's it states there were specific motor types made in 2000. How do I decern which mine is? EX: 3rd generation:
Any ZL (1.5l) botom end parts will work with the 1.6l (ZM-DE) engine.

How do I know if I have the "zm-de" ?

You have the ZM-DE because all 99+ 1.6L Proteges have it.

Please read the following page, and pay special attention to the sections explaining the differences between the different Mazda engine families. Most of the page is "B"-series specific because it's primarily written for Miata owners, but it does a good job of explaining the basics of the other families also.

http://members.aol.com/solomiata/MX5Engine.html

Here's the basic rundown of Protege engines, in very simple, straightforward format:
90-94 DX: B8, 1.8L SOHC
90-94 LX, 95-98 ES: BP, 1.8L DOHC
95-98 DX, LX: Z5-DE, 1.5L DOHC
99-01 DX/LX (USA), 99+ SE/DX (Canada): ZM-DE, 1.6L DOHC
99-00 ES (USA), 99-00 LX (Canada): FP-DE, 1.8L DOHC
01+ LX/ES, MP3 & MSP: FS-DE, 2.0L DOHC

Congrats on the results, but I just can't justify such a high hp/dollar figure.

I guess I've been spoiled by my turbo cars
