indiglo gauge wiring

I put in my reverse indiglos this weekend. I had read somewhere else on this topic to cut into the green wire with the white stripe that connects to the largest plug for the cluster (because it supposedly turns on the gauges when the lights are turned on). I think this might have been for a 97 if my memory is correct, which in reality could be totally different from my 95 es wiring. Anyway i cut into that wire, connected the positive to it, and grounded the negative to the metal bracket in the dash but upon turning on the headlights, the gauges do not illuminate, only the needles and now i have no right turn signal indicator.

Just wondering if any knows exactly which one to splice into, otherwise i'll connect to some other power source and just have to use the switch to turn them on. a friend of mine also mentioned extending the line to the fuse box and connecting there, but that was only a suggestion (and he drives a honda)

i did my gauges the other week and we unplugged the gauges from the 3 plugs...and on the plug closest to the driver window i believe its the last wire(on the right) that turns on with the lights...all you gotta do is splice into that and boom your good to go...make sure you use the last wire on the right and not the one next to it or the dimmer switch on the car wont work right...good luck...its easy if you got a test light especially...

www.procarparts.com is where i got mine - about the same price. look under mazda and go to the last page i think.....

i forget which wire i used but i used a voltmeter to find the wire which had no current until you turn the lights on. i think it was as G2Protege said - the last wire on the right side plug (it was my left side here in nz). plus i spliced into the earth wire on the middle plug instead of the metal frame.
