Headlight Bulbs for my 95 protege
Okay, I've noticed this for the last little while on my g/f's 1995 protege but haven't done a thing till now.
The headlights seem really yellow. I don't know if it's the bulb or the headlight housing.
If it is the bulbs, what make of replacement headlight bulb would you recommend, what's the bulb number, where can I buy them and how many do I need?
If it's the headlight assembly, how do I clean the inside?
Your help will be much appreciated.

that is most likely the bulb, and that i am not 100% sure you can clean the headlight bulb, as I have never done so.. I do think that you may be able to take it apart and then you would have to remove the metal clips on the top and then try and clean it , but then what would you use to clean it ,,... dunno myself ,so I could not tell you ... I do recomend that you look around and see how much a replacement is and price it ,,.. if to pricey then try cleaning it , but I have no info on procedures for this

It might actually be both. You probably need knew bulbs (which arent that expensive). Protege Menace is right about the housing, usually it wont get dirty from the inside, but occasionally it does. Here is a site that might help ya out. http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/headlights/ I was going to try this in the summer, but the 98 degree weather along with 70% humidity stopped me.

don't change your bulbs yet....most likely it is your housing (outside)....my 92 eclipse had yellowing housings, but with some scrubbing, they cleared right up. One way is by wet sanding...just work your way through all the grits..make sure they are very very fine though...
...another way is what i always do...start with some red rubbing compound, buff it off...then use some white compound...buff...then rub it down with some Meguirs Aluminum Polish...Finally, put on a layer of Clear plastic polish...should be nice and smooth and crystal clear by now!
but of course, it never hurts to put in some higher wattage bulbs...just don't go with any cheesy blue or purple...you'll get the best visibility, and classier look from a nice bright white light

The yellowish tinge is noticable when the lights are on, not when their off. Perhaps it's actually the bulbs.
Could you recommend a replacement headlight bulb. What I'm looking for is the bulb #, and how many I need.
