Swap?

Alright, sorry if this ? pisses anyone off or sounds stupid...I got a 93 323 and was in the process of getting a protege lx and was goign to swap the engine over but fell through. now ive been looking for about 2 months now and i cant find an pro lx car nor engine anywhere but i see dx everywhere i look. i saw that the dx has 103 hp and the 323 is 82hp. would it be worth swapping the the dx engine in and if so i figured i could just keep my tranny cos the hp isnt a dramatic increase and also would it mount the same as 323 engine. im on a huge budget and expecting a kid soon so thats why i was considering this....well any help would be greatly appreciated...thanx...

Yes you will feel the difference, an extra 20 or so hp never hurt anybody. It may not be as good as the DOHC but it is still better then the 323's stock motor. If its worth it is up to you. I also considered this swap but only if I got the motor free.
I say go for it, I mean theres not a lot you can do when you have a limited budget. You have to make sacrafices here and there sometimes.

But since you are swapping the motor for performance there isn't alot you can do with the SOHC...everything would pretty much be custom. On the other hand the DOHC has alot more options to choose from for performance. So it is just up to you, and where you plan on going with this car.

well i found some junkyards around here that have em for like $150-200 bucks. has anyone ever swapped this tho? im not really concerned with going to the track or street racing, i just want something with some go, im also contemplating trading in the 323 for something newer but dont really want to make pmts thats why i was condering the sohc. do i need the sohc tranny and ecu to or will i be fine with just the engine? thanx again...
