Question Spring Comparision.....

OKAY everyone I need to know what are the difference between lowering springs and how much lower perticular springs can drop my pro.

I keep hearing all kinds of different stuff from all different people but I wanna hear it from you guys!

I am interest in sus. tech. springs but some say they drop 1.5" and others just say 1". Are they any good? I want to lower it and kill some of that ugly fender gap!

What about intrax? I don't want sprint cuz I think it will be too rough of a ride.... Eibach seems like it's just not low enough though.....

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT U ALL THINK!!!!

Springs

I happen to have H&R Springs for an MX3 on my first Gen pro. They have essentially the same suspension and the struts springs are interchangeable. The springs drop 1.5 in the front and 1.3 in the rear...the car looks just right and handles very well. The MX3 springs have a higher spring rate but the ride is still very good. I picked em up from Corksport for 200 and some change. Most springs I have seen for the Protege are 1.00 drops for ST springs (as pseudo indicated) and as much as 1.75 with the Intrax. The H&R's in my opinion are a very good choice.

Intrax

I really cannot comment on the Intrax springs since I have never owned a set. I have heard from people who love em, but have also heard from some who hate em. There used to be a Black Protege in my area that had the Intrax 1.75 drop but I never had the opportunity to talk to the owner to much. He seemed to like them but it's a matter of opinion. The intrax did definitely eliminate the fender gap though. All the pro-owners I know aren't running Intrax so maybe that in itself is a statement.

I have an apex spings roughly 1.6" drop.
so far so good and the price was'nt bad either.
the ride is quite stiff specially during the summer when it has the 16" wheels on. I do like the way it handled though. tight!

one thing you have to keep in mind. when you lower your car you would need to have the 4 wheels aligned.

Suspension Techniques and Intrax are both ****, I think the best bang for the buck you can get are with the H&R springs

Eibach is also really good but will cost you more $$$.

Neuspeed springs are not what they used to because they tend to sag faster than the H&Rs.

Sprint springs

I would like to know what you think about Sprint springs.

Cause I'm thinking about dropping my car.

Thanks

Steph,

I would ask groharlem, because he's the only one that I know has them.

I went with the progress springs (to be different ) and in a few weeks imma visit groharlem so he can put em in for me!

For some reason everyone around here wants to charge me $400 + just for the install. OH WELL..... thanx to gro I should be ok.

My friend used to have them on a 92 convertible mustang and they sag in less then 2 summers.

An other guy that I know broke one in winter on his 98 prelude with tokico ajustables set at 4.

Maybe there not good on heavy cars.

Thumbs up Weapon*R Coil Overs

I have a 90 Protege.. I just installed the Weapon*R coil overs on the front.. They dropped the front of my car an additoinal 1.5 inches over my Eibach springs.. I haven't had a chance to get the rear coils on, but the ride on the front is nice.. I just have basic napa replacement struts still.. It's a little stiff, but just feels more controlled.. I have 16" wheels and have MAYBE .5 inch of gap... it looks good.. I post a pic when i get the back coils on. I can still go lower.. my struts don't bottom out yet.
