Question Shifty shifters?

Can any Pro'er on this board confirm that a Short Shifter for a 91 Escort GT will fit the 1G pro? Thanks.

Yes, they should fit. At least the Protege LX. Not sure if the DX/SE has the same shifter or not.

Thanks Davard.

Can any one confirm whether LX/DX's have the same shift linkage?

YES the pacesetter shifter will fit either a LX or DX, they use the same shifter lever arm.

And DO NOT BUY Bronzeoil bushings for your pacesetter THEY DO NOT FIT!!! I found this out the hard way. They will fit the B&M and your stock shifter however.

USE the pacesetter bushings if you decided to get that shifter. ITs a pretty decent unit..but if you adjust it too short, it protrudes so much out of the bottom of the car that it can scrape against the exhaust system (which makes it feel like dogshit)
Thanks Will!

Nopi has 'em (PS) for $55.68...Sound decent to me.

Wow thanks a lot Will, this info will save me some trouble. I was under the impression that the bronzoil bushings were going to be better. I'll keep the PS ones. Is the PS a shift kit, or is it a wholes shifter?

I'd say i got like 20+ pictures of the whole process....i'll probably end up using like 10 or so, but they should be pretty good.
Damn Will, how late do you stay up? It's 5:40 here in Wichita, KS. Thanks for the pics, I'm sure they will help. Let me know... I'm going to bed, good night to all the 8 Pro'ers signed in!

I just woke up so i could make my 11am class...and goddamn i'm tired as shi

i'll be taking a nap starting at 1pm prolly til 6pm lol. I'll post the 4 how-to's after that:

-how to change shifter lever (i changed my stock one from a 91 LX shifter to a 99 LX 3rd gen shifter, but its the same exact thing for the pacesetter)

-how to change your own oil (for those who don't know)
-how-to paint your calipers (my end results looked kinda shitty, but otherwise OK
-how-to fix your damn seatbelt light

I got a lot of pictures for each of them, so they should be pretty good once i write up the pages :P
Wait, is the 99 LX shifter a shorter throw?

But what it does do is make your shift linkage look like this:

1 3 5

|-----------|---------------|

2 4 R

To this:

1 3 5
| | |
|--------|--------|
| | |
2 4 R

hope those manual drawings show up good ;P

Edit: crap!! the stupid pics don't show up for some gay reason...well just imagine the middle lines are connected to the other three numbers.

Basically it makes it from making your passenger think your making a move every time your shifting into 5th....to not noticing.
(one of my passengers got offended once when i touched her leg when i was shifting into 5th...i was like "what?!? the throw is long!", she still thought i did it on purpose...)
Dude, I know what you mean. When people get in my Pro I always bump their leg, I'm usually like move your damn knee! It's so familiar for me, but probably not too familiar for them. I should probably be nicer about it, not everyone owns a Protege! Does the PS shorten the "width" of the throw as well?

**** man, i know you've been waiting for my how-to...and its not like i'm bullshitting. I have the pictures and have some of it wrote up, but haven't completed all 5 of the ones i'm going to publish yet.

I'll have them up DEFINITELY by friday, most likely by thursday night

I have this philosophy test that requires me to read 8 aritcles...ranging in 4-10 pages. I take like 1 hour to read that many pages lol and I'm trying to prep essays for each that will get 100% (i got a 54/100 on my last test...so i'm going all out this time around)

The test is wednesday which means i won't be working on jack **** today. I have a accounting test thursday so i don't know if i'll work on it at all wednesday either. but after that accounting test, i will def work on it (thursday night) and probably finish it and put them up

i'll let you know..........
No problem! I know exactly how you feel. I've got a Statics test tomorrow due with Statics homework, and I've got Physics II homework due tomorrow too.
