Putting an Engine in the 323

Well since we know that the Pro Lx and the EGT have many thing in comen, are all the engine componets in the EGT the same in the Pro LX. Can we put a EGT engine into a 323. Is it the same set-up and instructions as the Pro Lx.

theres a little difference, such as the egt engine doesnt have a fuel return while the pro does.

Are you sure about that because i just completed the swap and it did have a return because i hooked it up and everything. The engine is running good other then the fact there is some smoke coming out of the fron from what looks like to be an oil leak by the manifold other then that it runs great. I will have some pictures up to show you guys how it looks. Not like if you havent seen it before. Just here to add myself to the list of people wit now DOHC 323. With the tax return in feb i will add the turbo and everything.

i dont know what it is but can someone tell me why the temp guage goes all the way up when i turn the engine on. The one i had on the old engine worked fine so i switched it to that sensore. It still goes all the way past the H on the temp. So i dont know if my car is iverheating or not right now. I order a water temp guage and i will try and youse that. But i would still like the stock one to work.

Ok i am doing something a little different than you all are doing i aquired a 94 2.0 out of a ford probe/Mx 6 (same difference) since i saw the almost same 2.0 in newer proteges and i having to change almost everything IE wiring dash mounts ect ill keep everyone posted on how this is turning out i kinda wished that mazda would had put a larger motor than a 1.6 or 1.8 in these 90-94 323/protege i dont know much bout the 1.8 but the 1.6 in these cars were sluggish. but that is my opinion (Others may vary)

hey mazdaboy if you want a bigger engine get a 2.5L V6 with tranny ecu and wiring from 626 and you will not have problems to install it is bolt on but a 1.8L DOHC is more common and you can get 400whp +

i didn't know the probe came with a 2.0L engine. they came with the f2 engine which is a 2.2L and will not fit in the protege. the KL 2.5 engine will fit.

The EGT does have a fuel return line. ALL BP engines do. i've swapped 3 of them, all of them had FRL i had 91, 90, 94. the geometry of the ford fuel rail is different than the mazda one.

Ok maybe i can explain this a little better i have a 94 ford probe ( Donor car ) and it was free you could still drive it if u could stand the 3 gallons of bondo on the left side and the roof . I just wanted to do something different that no one has done before and i have my 1991 323 whitch i really enjoyed driving and you dont see many of these cars around in fact in my town i am the only one who owns a last gen 323 US spec I relise i going to make alot of custom brackets for the motor and dashboard and i don't want a 1.8 (don't dislike these motors ) just wanted to do something that has never been before that i know of. it would be nice to get my hands on a V6 so i could give some of these mustang and Camaro owners a run for their money . i live in a part of Arkansas where ppl think the chevy Z71 is the best.
