New to the Mazda

Hey there everyone, I just got a 1995 Mazda Protege S for $2500..Its the canadian version so it's the 1st gen body style so I fiqured it would make more sense to post it in this section...My old car was a 1994 Ford Escort Wagon, so Im pretty familiar with the body style and what not, Im registered on escortracing.com and am somewhat knowledgeable about parts that can interchange...Im currently in the process of taking everything off it and putting it in the Protege..Today I managed to install the headunit, and all the wiring for my subs, no wires can be seen except hte trunk which will cahnge when I install my new 15 solobaric, nad Kicker Resolution components...Ive already got plans for the protege including Tint, coilovers, intake, exhaust, momo shift boot nad **** and install my underglow from the escort. Ive got roughly $2000 to drop into it right away plus my next paycheck..Ive found a set of 14's for $600 with ruber, there a gold rim with silver accents so it should match nice, I dont need huge rims cause I plan on sittin nice and low, and maybe airbags next summer. Anyways Ive read a lot on the board already and learned about my fuel door problem . Im located in Brighton, Ontario, about 1 1/2 east of Toronto right off the 401 and would be interested in coming to a meet if there are any.

Anyways here are some pics, the body is in awesome shape with no rust, and the engine bay is mint clean, I will get a pic of the engine bay in the next couple of days. I also have a full MX-3 interior coming to me for $100 from a friend

Welcome to the forum. I find it quite interesting that you've got a 95 "first gen" pro.
THough I am aware that they exist. Do you have the DOHC or SOHC??
I have a few questions about it.
On your VIN there the first few digits are JM1
(for Japan Mazda and 1= car) are the fourth and fifth digits BG or BA??
A 90-94 would be BG, and BA would be 95.
Just wondering what the deal is with those, as I've found very little info on them.

While we're on the subject you would be best off to doa a search before asking any questions you might have as they've most likely been asked.
Also check out the Protege FAQ and BOOKMARK IT.
