Need proof! please help

one guy i know just dont belive that an escort has anything to do with protege, and he says that protege is made by escorts which is impossible because escorts are newer than proteges (correct me if im wrong). so, pelase, tell me the url or something where i can show him that ESCORTS ARE JUST UGLY PROTEGES WITH CRAPIER SUSPENSION!!!!!! whose signature is that?

The early 90s escort GT's (92-96 i think???) are pretty much a 90-94 lx protege. But i think the EGT has a higher geared transmission.. Not sure about the suspension

The 91-02 Escorts (ZX2 included) shared the 1st Gen Protege's BG chassis. As previously stated, the 91-96 Escort GT used the same Mazda 1.8L BP engine found in the Protege LX. The suspension and related components are directly interchangable between both the Protege and Escort.

The GT and Protege LX had same suspension. The only difference was the size of the anti-roll bars. I'm not sure about the DX and the other Escorts. I do know that the Escort LX is the worst handler out of all of them, it did the worse on the skidpad.

The suspension components might be the same but does that mean that they perform the same way? I am pretty sure that there is some weight difference between the Pro and the Escort. There have to be other factors as well that affect how the car handles. The Escort is a totally differently designed car besides the motor and suspension components....

Go look at a 4 door Escort sedan and then a Protege, then say they are totally different.

I happen to own a Protege and I've seen many 4 door Escorts (mostly at the junkyard ) They are different.

not that much if you're talking about the chassis. it's rare to find the 4-doors with a BP and LX suspension though (LXe?) correct me if I'm wrong.

The sheetmetal may be different, but its the same body structure. If you can't look at them and see it then I don't know what to tell you.

After looking at the pics for 5 minutes I'd say that you are right and I am wrong. I apologize for being so sure, but I will blame it on the 2 door Escorts
Still though, you cannot say that it is the same car. That's what I had in mind in my initial post.

I call them distant cousins.

I think the 323 is the same car as a Mercury Tracer, but I haven't checked it out closer, becasue I really don't care.

Let's just leave it at this........

FORD SUCKS, NO ONE GIVES 2 ***** IF THEY OWN 35% OF MAZDA. THEY ALWAYS TAKE THE MAZDA STYLE.

in other words, **** FORD.

See how easy that was?

why is everyone so proud of this fact? yes, certain things are interchangeable, the designers for the escort were from mazda for christsake. for every 2 door escort out there, i can tell you, they are peices of ****, my grandfather thought it a fitting idea to get both one of my aunts and one of my uncles ford escort, 2 door hatches, and they constantly had problems, combined, they totalled 150,000 miles between the two cars before they were both junked. it wasn't the design mazda had for the escort that was bad, it was the ****** ford motors ford decided to throw in. my entire post is excluding the EGT. somebody, anybody correct me if i'm wrong??
peace

Jesus H Christ...

I can't understand how you guys can hate the escort so much when it's the same damn car.

Yes, the 1.9 sucks. The EGT, totally different car, why even discuss the Lxs/ponies ?

EGT is a lighter car (by about 100lbs) I have yet to drive a pro LX, but they feel very relative (itxcatz gave me a ride on a windy ro ad, rooods).

Thought I'd mention my 93 has 200k and runs mint
