I need Speedometer HELP!

My speedometer isn't working at all. The rest of the gauges work except for the speedometer, odometer, and the mileage meter. I called a dealership and they said that it's run from $150 - $300, and I really don't want to spend that much on something that seems so minor. Maybe a disconnected wire? I'm not sure what to look for. So, is there anyone out there that can help me with this? Or, do I have to take it to a dealership?

Thanks for your time.

Take a look at the speedo cable before you plunk down $$ for a new speedo. You willl have to disconnect it from the tranny and see if it's broken. The new dealer item is a 2 piece unit, and I don't remember what they cost....

Your speedometer cable has either become disconnected at the back of your speedometer or at your tranny, or it's broken. Easy to find out, just pullit out of your tranny and have a look
