Hey.. thannks Brian !!!

that's cool...

I was not thinking about modding the car.. but I started reading the FAQ.. and Geez.... I guess I'll be doing some mods !!

First i'll try to get a real CAI.... just like the one I am buying for my contour... nice sound !!!

I would bet there is one also available for the Proteges...

My baby is red....

It has small 13" stock steel wheels.... I am buying some 16" / 17" for the Zetec.. I'll probably be putting my 15" that I have now on the Protege..... just to give it the "looks" !!

I am just sad because I thought I bought the 16 valve.... but I was checking the VIN number and the FAQ says that I have the SOHC...

Huh,.. I have to check that tonight when I got back home...

thanks again...

Huh..

I always thought the SOHC was for "single overhead cam" and the DOHC was for "dual overhead cam".

I guess I was wrong...

Good to know I have a 16 valves...

SOHC does stand for single overhead cam. you have a SOHC with 16 valves.

Thumbs up dude

I am the proud owner of a dark red 1990 mazda protege. Buying that car is like the best thing u will ever do, cuz dude...its quick. I can take a brand new civic ex 5-speed with ease. And its reliable, cuz i can do that with 160 thousand miles. You wont be sorry man. Good Luck!

mine is at 165k the reason mine is not on the road right now. is b/c of the input shaft seal. and bearings which were alittle bad b/c the fluid in the tranny got to low. but other then that she runs great.

I ran a 16.86 with 190 000kms on the engine. Only mods are an intake (undercompensated by a bad MAS) and 2.25" exhaust (actually reduces power right now...until I get the BPT). the time I ran is the exact time the SOHC is supposed to run BRAND NEW (got that off the net somewhere...exactly 16.86...). How's that for not losing power over time?!

16.86 It is pretty impressive...

IIRC that's about the best time the Zetec guys run without any "hardcore" mod....

I guess the Proteges are lighter also... that helps a little....

I cannot let my girlfriend know about that... or she'll try to race me !!

(and she could beat me !!)

Bizob, What is BPT? you said you have 2.25 exhaust and until you get BPT it reduces your power. I put on 2 inch custom exhaust, is that costing my HP until i get the BPT?? What's the BPT????
