Welocme Tonyroma1, to calrify...

the BPT is the engine code for the J-Spec 1.8L DOHC turbo motor found on the AWD Protege's and 323 hatchbakcs in Japan, New Zealand, Austrailia and Europe, basically, everywhere but here!. Our N/A (normally aspirated) engines here in the US and Canada are the 1.8L DOHC N/A BP (or the BPD)

The 2.25" exhuast on a BP engine will sacrifice low end power but produce better top end power, while a 2" exhaust helps the low end power, but high end is sacrificed. It depends on what your doing with the car that will determine what size you need. (ie, drag = 2.25" / autox/road racing = 2") IMHO

The BPT engine comes in 2 versions, GTX (180hp) and GTR (200hp) the GTX engine is a very commun swap into a 1st gen Protege/323, the MX-3, 2nd gen Escort GT and Mercury Tracer LTS. The GTX engine is more atainable than the GTR engine, but the GTR engine is the way to go if you have the right connections and the money to spend.

I came to find out the GTR engined cars have a 2.25" downpipe and exhaust (stock) (not sure what the GTX engined cars have) so Bizob's 2.25" exhaust would be a great start, although when more mods are in effect, a 2.5" or 3" will probably be needed.

Checked my muffler shop bill... Turns out I have 2.5" (I was'nt sure) It'll be better suited to run 10-15psi...

Also, I finally talked to my contact for the engine yesterday... It was stuck at customs, but should be here in 2 weeks! I'm getting impatient!

I think I'm getting just as impatient as you Bizob. I can't wait for someone on this board to actually try the swap. We've all been talking about it for so long but no one has actually ever tried it to my knowledge. Make sure you keep us up to date. And PLEASE PLEASE take plenty of pictures when all the action starts. I wish I could be there to watch, but since I can't you know I sure as hell want to see some pictures of it.
