Howdy! New to the forum.
hey whats up guys, I just recently bought a 94 Protoge LX, and I'm looking to put some pop into it. What mods have you guys done? I was thinking of doing an intake mod, but I've heard rumors of negative results by removing the resonator, any truth to this? and whats the max HP increase possible without NO2?
To tell the truth, this is the first import i have ever owned, I am not a stranger to doing custom mods, i used to have a 2.3 91 mustang that I modded the crap out of, but unfortunately it met it's maker in a wreck a month ago.
looking forward to hearing about some kick *** protege mods!

Bladerunner, welcome to our happy home.....the fridge is in the corner, its always stocked with WHATEVER you like, flop on the couch and kick your shoes off...make your self at home, and ask away......there is a pretty good FAQ and we have a search option too.....lots of things have been discussed here.....there is a wealth of information at your fingertips.
I have a 2002 P-5.....I have only put in a Injen CAI and a Bosal Cat-back exhaust.....that is it for now....after all...the ride only has 3400 miles on her now. :{D
there are a few here that are SERIOUS 1st genners...and they will be very helpful.

btw, removing your air resonator box shouldn't hurt performance, if anything make it better. I am still learning about these cars as I go, but from previous experience with pulling the Air Resonator Box off of honda's/acura's it is recommended until you can afford/find time to install CAI or Short Ram intake (I prefer short ram intakes) with Short rams you don't have to remove the Air Resonator Box which makes things a lot easier, especially on our older cars, CAI you must remove Air Resonator Box because the Filter sits in the bumper where the box sits.. Dyno sheets show that the CAI doesn't give any more HP gain than the short ram, it just affects a different part of your power band.

I can tell you from experience, I don't want to do anything that hurts my low-end torque. I would like to find the best set up for maximum low-end acceleration. Any suggestions would be most helpful!

Drop me a PM on AIM, GordCS2, or e-mail me at DragonRX@pwctoday.com and I will help ya out. Generally when you start modding your gonna stray toward low end, or top end..

the main resonators from the OEM airbox can be removed, but the HBox (small black box, just upstream of the air flow meter) should stay, as this adds about 2-4lbs of torque. Pipe size should be 2.5" ID. Properly designed intakes are not available, except a cold air extension peice, although headers, exhausts and other bolts-ons are readily available. start with www.corksport.com
