Help! Civic wants to race me....

like i said before i use to run 14.8's on my civic......At school everyday on the way home at 10pm my classmates schedules streetrace almost every Wednesday. After i sold my civic they never ask me to go with them anymore cuz im driving my 323....Well i couldn't accept the fact that my car cant hang with a stock civic ex so now im doing the dohc swap.
I just want to make sure that my car would be able to beat a civic ex with just intake. This civic is prolly hitting 17's on a quarter mile. and i want to be sure i can take 'em.....here's what i have :
bp 1.8 dohc engine
K&N filter
im using my stock tranny (sohc tranny) and i talk to the guy who got the same set up and he's hitting 16.6 1/4 mile. thats kinda slow. o yeah how much does my car weigh stock anyways? I have a 91 323 hatchback

Maybe you should be glad you don't get invited to street races anymore.... be happy that your face doesn't become one with a street lamp pole or, better yet, an innocent victim.

I've heard the spiel that "we can race safely before".

And then I got to see his name in the obituaries next week

I'd say around 2100-2300lbs in that area. Yes, a 16.6 is slow for that setup. I think a stock 1st gen LX would run DAMN close to that so you should be running in the high 15s or better with that setup.

1.6?

i dont think they put 1.6's in the 1st gen pro. 1.8 sohc runs like an 18 or sumthin though. i ran a low 17 tha one time i took my pro out to the track. i had intake and straight pipe exhaust from manifold back.(no cat) that was with a slippin second gear both runs...piece of **** stock clutch. i left and promised myself id never go back until i had some boost under the hood.

I'm suprised to see you in here and not in a Ford Windstar or Dodge Caravan forum. Although, I don't like seeing high school kids, who just saw F&F, go out and start streetracing. I'll turn them down every time. I only race with ppl that can control their car and that know how to recover their vehicle if a drunk driver or someone on a cell phone pulls out in front of them. I have never seen one accident from street racing. I see at least one accident a week from someone talking on the cell phone or a drunk driver.

I'm glad you haven't seen anything... did you know that last year there were at least 17 people killed in street races in San Diego? And that includes innocent people. HEll, they might be fast and the furious "ricers", but who's to decide how good of a driver you are and tell the other people on the road who are trying to use it that there is very little risk they'll get killed?

And yes, drunk drivers are killers in my mind. ******** on cell phones **** me off

And you think I'm a ***** huh? I interned for a month at the county coroner's office... I got to see some "former" classmates. Your face sure doesn't look pretty splattered at 115mph on a freeway offramp. So it's not like I'm being a ***** sideliner... I was there. That's all I really want to say about that job.

And I know I'm not going to really stop anybody...

I couldn't resist though...

Talking Smoked Civic

I remember one nite....i was at a stop light with my 90 Lx 5 speed DOHC pro(completely stock)...when this red civic (2000?) pulls up with neon lights in his interior...and a loud muffler...possibly intake...we'll i knew this piece of **** wanted to race me. So when it turned green i floored it coming out early, just barely, but when i put it to second and threw it up to 6000 rpm(i dont red line anymore, cause i blew a radiator hose last time) i smoked his weak civic so badly that im smiling now just thinking about it. Well, it was clear this guy wasnt going to catch up to me, so i layed off and he got right on my *** in my lane, and then turned off. I guess i'd be mad too if i had put all that money making my car look nice, but was beaten by a stock 90 Lx 5 speed Pro...oh well, suxors for him.

Hey I don't think 16.6 1/4 mile is slow for my 323 DOHC ?? It is almost stock with only a 2 1/4 exhaust pipe and a cone filter. Besides the 1/4 mile strip is not at sea level, if it was then it would've been high 15's.......... !!
