Well it seems to be that the power steering pump is broken because you loose the softness of the steering wheel.

Did you check the steering fluid? because if its in hi level you have problems with the impeler of the pump, you have to change the steering pump for a new one and if its in the empty level just try to to feel it again...

it may not be JUST the pump. First things first. Check your powersteering fluid. Is it at the right level? Now, make sure that you belt is intact, not fraying, split, damaged or wrapped around the PS pulley. If it is ok proceed to remove the belt (rather easy) and try turning the pulley by hand. If it is difficult to do then your pump may have locked up on you. this is uncommon but you should check it anyway. If it spins freely you may have a leak or fluid loss somewhere. You hsould notice this when checking the fluid level.

After you check these out let us know and I'll tell you what to do next.

uh oh, if you're asking these questions you should probably have a professional mechanic look at it.

may be steering pump belt coulda broke. i highly doubt that the fluid drained totally out that quickly, but check for fluid leaks if you find out that the belt didnt break.
