E-Bay Intake... The **** KIND
i'm pretty sure, unless there is a name attatched to the manufacturer and it's well known, these intakes on ebay are pretty much going to be for ****. here is a link to the EXACT intake that i bought http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ory=38634&rd=1
basically, this intake is a poor design in a few respects: 1)intake is 3 inches in diameter 2)intake is designed to BYPASS resonator box 3)mounting hardware is virtually a joke 4)not enough hose clamps to FULLY secure 5)no way to connect the oversized air filter (ie no ****** adapter) 6) 90 degree bend coming off throttle body avoids clearance issues with battery, but is hard to snug in and hard to piece together... ontop of the fact it cuts down on air flow and almost negates purpose of getting a metal intake. 7) comes with no instructions 8)lots of custom fabrication is going to be needed for this thing to work the way i want it to work.
in other words, you get what you pay for... save your ****** money. as for me, i'm happy, i'll get the parts to include the resonator box, mount the VAF, cut out the stock air box and possibly get a small cold air extension for this puppy... so for $35 bucks dude, i got 5 hose clamps, 2 pieces of painted exhaust pipe with holes, 3 rubber adapters, a rubber hose, an over sized cone filter and no possible way of mounting the intake. so the next **** that posts an ebay intake (at least of this design) gets my full and utter IGNORANCE. to each his own guys, make your own intake, buy the 200 dollar ractive intake, or just quit your bitchin and keep it stock.

ok, it was pointed out that maybe i was a little bitter. but somebody, tell me how 3 inches is better than a 2.5 inch mandrel bent intake? how the 90 degree bend is effective besides making room around the battery? this intake isn't that bad if you're into customizing ****, it's just, why would you buy this thing if you're well capable of customizing? i don't know, my buddy can make me an intake and i chose this. still goes without saying. at any rate, if it's such a crisis, i'll see what i can do about getting a couple intakes made up would cost from the import shop up the street and see what my buddy Lee can do about prices. what do you guys think? what input do you have on this intake... much apprecieated.

well, as it stands, i've figured on a few things, rubber 3" inch adapter and hose clamps to finish off the intake pipe, then i'm gonna wait till my intake adapter comes in, then butcher in a custom mounting for the air flow meter and i'm going to tear out the factory air box, as the thing doesn't even seal properly (thanks to idiot mechanics... ronnie can attest to this). after i get this fitted and figured, i'm going to go to my buddy's shop and have him bend me a cold air extention and see about pricing the rest of the intake at 2.5 inches instead of 3 (unless anybody can give me a reason to keep the 3 inch). aside from that, the next eventual step will be an rx-7 VAF and the proper tools to tune it, then i should be in business... all in all, i may just end up spending the 200 bucks. i saw your post, i was interested if you say... brought it up 2 weeks ago . at any rate, if my buddy can't figure out something for a CAI, i might trouble you for one of those. testing out the intake today, i can definately tell that there is a leak, cause somewhere in the powerband (between 3,500 to 4,000.. depending on position of the accelerator pedal) the rpm's spike and sometimes above 6,000 rpm's. this intake is not for a NOOB.
