My car definitely has a grudge of some sort against me

When the engine is warm it chugs and stumbles at anything over quarter throttle.

Its really getting on my nerves cause I can't accelerate at any sort of reasonable rate anymore without the engine stumbling on me.

What could cause this

 

what have you tryed to right this problem? nething at all? if not try replacing ur plugs, air filter, fuel filter, blah blah blah all the regular stuff, if that dosent work take it to a garage and ask them whats up with your car

 

Have you changed your fuel filter? Also, you can check your spark plugs. Those are probably the easiest and cheapest things you can check that would cause that problem. It's probably the fuel filter though.

 

I figured it was probably thte fuel filter...

how much would it cost to replace approximately? I know the part would probably be about $10 or so but the labour is waht gets ya...

 

The fuel filter is anywhere from $15-$50, depending on where you buy it and what brand you buy. The labor should be about an hour, but not more than two. Other than the difficulty getting the rubber fuel hoses off the filter, and remembering to relieve the pressure in the fuel system, it isn't that hard of a do-it-yourself job...although lacking a warm place to work might make it a bit harder.

You should also check your plug wires. Good wires ($50 NGK) will usually last about 60-90k miles. Cheap wires ($20) are lucky to make it 15-20k before breaking down. What happens (in laymen's terms) is the pieces that go into the head crack and the spark energy leaks out rather than going to the plug.

 

how does one relieve the pressure in the fuel systeM? never heard of this yet on changin the fuel filter. enlighten me

 

There are two ways: the factory suggested way or the other way. Both require the car to be running when done. The factory way is to remove the rear seat and unplug the fuel pump while the engine is running. The other way is to simply unplug the fuel pump relay. Personally, I'd go with the factory way, as you might damage the relay unplugging it while active.
