A/C Not Working, Brand new Compressor

For a little over a month now, my A/C has just not been working at all. I just had the compressor replaced with a brand new one at the beginning of December, so I definitely shouldn't be having problems with it this soon. It has started to get hot here lately, and it is unbearably hot even with the fan on 4, slider all the way to the end of the blue, A/C button pushed in....(the compressor is getting power...I hear it click on and off like normal. regardless of whether it is recycling the air or not...it just does NOT cool. when I had the compressor replaced, as is normal, they also replaced the dryer. In addition, they replaced the A/C-P/S belt, drained, flushed, and evacuated the system, (those all sound like the same meaning, but whatever they must be different, lol) and recharged the system with freon (its on the old system, but obviously that isn't the cause of the problem). I have noticed no A/C leaks, except for the normal water from condensation (at least I think thats normal??). At first I thought maybe I was expecting it to be too cold or something, but I have had mad complaints from sweating passengers. (i'm a HS student, so I always have different ppl in the car)

This is really a separate issue, and i'm pretty sure not the main cause, but I don't get enough airflow from my fan. Speed 4 on my fan is about the strength of Speed 1 on my mom's 2001 Accord. Anyhow, regardless of the fan speed, it is still blowing fast enough to blow out plenty of mad cold air, but there is none!! Help!

Is the air colder on fan setting 1 than on 4? If so, this is likely low freon. I found mine wasn't putting out much cold air (on a 100 degree, humid day), and it turned out I had some Freon, but not enough to do more than slightly chill the air.

I'd suggest the shop that did your compressor change check the freon level and add some dye so they can tell if it is in fact leaking. (Mine wasn't)

Red face No difference

There is no difference in the temperature on fan setting 1 through 4.

As I said in my original post, I just had it recharged in December. (cost like friggin almost a hundred bux). The reason I had my A/C compressor replaced is because it had an irreparable leak, so the new one should NOT be leaking. (As well, I have not noticed any visible leaks) But, there's always that weird chance.

While I did pay out the *** for all that A/C work, at least the place has a good warranty...12 months parts and labor. So I'm gonna get it back in there sometime next week!!

I am still welcoming any suggestions from anyone because I don't want to get to the shop and have them tell me that something else is causing the problem that is not covered under the warranty... (Shops like to pull that kinda crap, hehe). At least if I can figure something out, I can tell them that that is bullshit. Thx everyone!

Today, my A/C started making the loud continuous clicking sound (outside) that it made while it was in the process of going bad last time. I've NEVER heard this on any other car besides mine, and two other 1st gen proteges that I've just seen in public. This is confusing, because if it's a protege thing, then why would it be doing it when I have a Panasonic air compressor?

If I press the A/C button to turn off the compressor, the clicking goes away. If I put have the compressor on and put the car in neutral, it goes away. Thats what makes me pretty damn sure its the compressor. But as I said WTF! This is WEIRD!

Sorry, some of us were away for the weekend.

Loud noises sounds like a bad compressor. Perhaps when they recharged the system, they forgot to put in compressor oil. Or perhaps they didn't put in enough freon...or any at all. That would fit with the lack of cooling.

Well....I had the A/C work done in December (it's ALWAYS hot in FL)...and it's April now, so it's been a while. It worked great until approx late March...so I know that there was freon in it when I got the system fixed. My car is at the repair place right now...my mom is coordinating things with them and I can't find out the situation till I get out of school in like an hour

Hmmz, I know my friend's dad found a leaking hose going to the compressor, and I know the compressor has a built in protection system for leaks so that it doesn't ruin itself trying to run without the proper pressure or whatever. So I'm hoping it's just that leaking hose and nothing else...

Well, turns out it was the evaporator, along with the leaking hoses, along with the blower motor being full of leaves and debris. I got all that fixed, but then my frickin compressor went bad. Everything else of course cost money, but since the compressor was just replaced in December, they are replacing that under warranty. Too much money being wasted, but oh well.
