I have a 92 Protege a with 1.8 SOHC Auto. The motor works good but is getting ready to pack it in soon- smokes (valve seals) and oil light flickering (bottom end). It has 275K so I can't complain ;-) A friend of mine has a 92 323 with a 1.6 manual I can have (free) . I was wondering will a 1.6 motor mate up to 1.8 auto tranny? What else will I have to change? I'm assuming at least the ECU. I have searched up and down this site and I really didn't find an answer.
