Anybody know the exact differences between these two assemblies. Coilover kits for the 3rd gens are half that for the 1st gens and if it's only some minor fab work, I'll do it myself to save the dough. I'm only concerned about why the 3rd gen coilover won't fit a 1st shock and spring/mount top. thanks, rob

Wil- I can list more reasons than you'd ever care to read, but the fact is I spent 1200 bucks on this car and it just doesn't deserve $400 coilovers. It really doesn't deserve anything but gas. I just want to drop it an inch and half so it doesn't look like my F350 - and $60 seemed like a reasonable price to alleviate the elevation.

I'd be surprised if the rates are geared towards any car. The reason to go for GC is the expertise they know suspensions. If you order a set of coilovers from them, they will actually ask you what your "end use" will be. They won't sell you 500# springs if you're going to be driving around on the street. Then again they probably won't recommend lowering your car too far without using a shortened body/rod strut/shock either.

I agree- with the "crap" coilovers you have no choice. One size fits all. Even with the some of the "name brand" (eibach, H&R, etc) street springs sold for a particular car, you'll find that the rates are geared toward "that" particular car. They just don't provide the adjustability of a coilover.

a key point- most want looks, not performance. Performance comes at a much higher price than looks. If it ever came down to performance for the Pro then I'd dig through my springs or buy some race springs. - rob

It's not that I don't care for the Pro- I do. I specifically hunted down a black LX. But the goal was to do it cheap. I've got two other cars the cash needs to go into right now- so I shouldn't spend anything on the Pro until those are complete- but I keep getting sucked in to these coilovers because they're so cheap (and adjustable).

The car was used by a student to commute from Ala. to GA for school- all hwy miles). The paint is shiny but the car has a lot of dings- among them it looks as though it was attacked by a bike rack and a couple of bikes. Once I'm finished with the other projects I'll start on the Pro. I just need a reliable transportation mode and the Pro is that now. - rob
