I know this isn't performance related but I want the ride of the 323 to be nice and smooth (as smooth as possible considering its a short wheelbase hatch). Because it will be transfered to family service, I fear the ZX2 struts will be too harsh even with touring tires. So just to be safe I will likely go with Monroe struts (saves me cost and installation of thrust bearings). I know many of you have these struts w/ stock springs, please make a comment on their comfort levels in general. The most affordable, the Monro-Matic Plus seems to be most forgiving compared to the Monroe Sensa-trac. Any comments on the KYB's and the Gabriels would be great as well. The 323 rides on a shorter chassis of the heavier 90-94 BG Proteges. Thanks.

I had Munros on my 92 Protege with Suspension techneques springs .the struts lasted 6months .I then went to Tokico .there was a noticable differance for the better . I personally would pay the extra and get the tokicos

 

No doubt, the tokicos will go on my next car.

 

I used to have the KYB GR2 struts on my LX and it rode very softly, and they make a quality product (much better than Monroe). They usually sell in the $60/each range, but you can find them cheaper if you look.

Don't go with the Tokicos if it's to be your family car, way too stiff. Save them for the toy!

Thanks Tom, I'll look for the KYB GR2s. I hear good things about them. As for the Tokicos, they will be reserved for my next project car.
