Who has weighed their Protege?

I took mine to a truck station and weighed it last weekend. Its a 94 DX 4-door base model, only power steering, jack removed but spare tire in place, 1/4 tank of gas, stock everything. I read that it weighed about 2388lbs on (I think) carpoint... actual total weight = 2271lbs, front end=1411lbs, back end=838lbs

Damn I should take the engine out of my Probe and swap it over and go for 12's on a slick That's already 500lbs difference and I haven't actually done any weight reduction on the Pro meanwhile I have the spare, trunk panels and A/C out of the PGT

jeez man these KL 323s are quite common aren't they ? For good reason though.. those things are sounding more and more like motorcycle engines to me lol.

My buddy's 93 323-KLZE anniversary edition (all power options, spoiler, etc) weighs 2425lbs with everything in and half a tank of gas.

Why don't you just look at the tag on the door??

Because its a rating, not the actual curb weight.

weight

I got my 91 LX weighed last summer and I got it down to 2400 or 2410 or something like that. I had all of my trunk ripped out. No spare tire, jack, tire iron, other tools needed for changing spare, no back seat, no back seat belts, no head rests, everything else that didn't need to be in there out of there, and I also took all the noise deading tar out of the trunk area. The tar stuff, when I weighed it, it was about 10 lbs. I had less then 1/4 tank of gas and nobody in it. I also had a fairly light cat-back exhaust system too. It's amazing how much faster lighter your car can make you. It doesn't seem like it would help, but it does.

How is yours so light compared to everyone elses here? Is the DX that much lighter without the power accesories ?
