Unhappy Transmission Problem. Help!

When I start my car in the mornings I hear a grinding noise coming from the tranny but after I warm up the car it goes away, but what I'm worried about is that its so loud that you could hear it even if you're 20 feet away from it.

If its a screeching sound like tires, are you sure its your transmission and not your drive belts??

yes, im sure its the transmission because it comes from the other drivers side. I can also hear it from the driver's side tire ( left side)

to me it also sounds like it might be the belts. check if they are a bit too tight.

There is a TSB that sounds similar to what you are describing in the Protege FAQ (upper right hand side), although it only states 90/91 models, perhaps it still applys..
