Transmission Problem. Help!

When I start my car in the mornings I hear a grinding noise coming from the tranny but after I warm up the car it goes away, but what I'm worried about is that its so loud that you could hear it even if you're 20 feet away from it.:(

ITS MORE LIKE A SCHREECHING NOISE, Like when you burn tires and loud like it.

If its a screeching sound like tires, are you sure its your transmission and not your drive belts??

mazdarally94 February-9th-2003 02:45 PM

yes, im sure its the transmission because it comes from the other drivers side. I can also hear it from the driver's side tire ( left side)

to me it also sounds like it might be the belts. check if they are a bit too tight.

There is a TSB that sounds similar to what you are describing in the Protege FAQ (upper right hand side), although it only states 90/91 models, perhaps it still applys.. :dunno:
