overheating or not?

ok.... my cap was messed up so i bought a new one. filled up antifreeze and checked couple days later after driving it daily and it was still full...

heres the problem.....

when i drive, my temperature gage reads normal, rite near the middle but when im cruising in 4th (auto dx) the needle goes up. for some reason if i hit the gas (or hit the OD button) and the car goes into 3rd, u can see the needle come down....

from a stop, if the needle is up and i stick it in NEUTRAL and rev 3k, u can see the needle go down to the middle again too.

really hope my car isnt over heating ;\

thanks in advanced guys.

I had a similar problem in my 323. Turns out it was my water pump that needed replacing. You should watch for coolant leaks. And keep tabs on your coolant level in the radiator. For me when my temp needle started going up it meant that the car was low on coolant and I just had to fill the radiator back up, I kept doing this every few days for weeks until I finally replaced my water pump.
