check your intake hoses and exhaust for leaks

Normally...
When a car is cold, doesnt it usually have a tendency to do wierd things when the engine is not fully warmed up?
When my car is not fully warmed up it has tendencys to do things it doesnt do when it is warmed...

isnt more power a good thing?
I thought turbos were supposed to make a "whistle" noise...but

i may be wrong, but thats my judgement..

it may be the bearings going out... If i could hear what it sounded like i might be able to tell you since my brother's GTI turbo bearings took a sh*t and it made more of a angry high pitched whistling sound than when it used to be boosting on good bearings

yeah that sound about right, its a bloody horrible high pitched whistle.
and even when its been running for and hour or so it's still not consistant on power, EG sometimes when i put my foot down the boost comes on straight away but other times it comes on 1-2 seconds later.
there just doesn't seem to be any consistancy to the progresion of boost
its either wack (all there)
or "maybe i might think about boosting soon!!!"
and its using a little bit of oil, but stuff all.

dont turbos have to be tuned somewhat? like timing?

perhaps that is your problem, or maybe ur running to high,

Maybe you could possbily ask one of our turbocharger experts around the forum to se if they can diagnos your problem
