ideas for other swaps
I was reading of some site that the FE3 in the MX6 was the same as the 95+ Kia Sportage with a few minor differences. Since this is a 2.0L I4, and it can be swapped into a MX6, can it be dropped into a 1st gen Pro/323? Or are the motor mounts different?
Here is one site I found on the FE3 thru the forum

Thanks for any input

Pseudo is right the FE3 has longer rods, plus thicker and are much stronger compared to the SR .. The FE will easily make more power that the SR.. EASILY
The head on the FE will also easily out flow the BP motor' head ,,
So with the turbo or whatever other route the motor will make serious power...
While researching the BP I found info on the FE

i think the main reason why people like me are going to agree with the sr20 being a better engine is because of the support backround. There is a bigger backround of documentation on the sr20, it has a greater aftermarket alone, and has been very prooven. Now i definately agree the FE3 is a damn good engine (those rods are damn beefy) its just the fact that you dont exactly know what you're getting into with it.
just my opinion

Jay B was making about 425whp with his FE3 before he decided to go with forged internals, but the engine could have taken much more. He switched to get a lower CR because the cat models of the FE have 9.2:1 and the non-cat models have 10:1. I have also read that the 9.2:1 internals are not as beefy as the 10:1.
If you are looking for other swaps there are some threads on KL's you could read, other than that there isnt much that wont require major fabrication.

lol jesse... the pinto does rule y0
yea but i hear the sr20 being overrated, ive always thought the BP was equal to it... maybe better cause its a mazda. But i must say im biased owning a sr20 powered car... it is a great engine regardless. Its all about what you want out of the engine, and personally i think the sr20 fits me right now... but the BP is a engine that i keep looking at wanting to build a project car with.
oh well.... keep the comments comming ya'll
