The hood thingy

You know that lil thing that hold the hood up, nope cant think of the name, well how do you take it out. Ive tryied but it looks like the only way is to brake that lil plastic thingy holding it in. I want to re-paint it cause its gone rusty.

you mean the hood prop? the little plastic deal at the bottom is no more than a clip. you may be able to pop it out with a screw driver.
