if you're going for all out performance, i'd go for the bpt. if you just want to have a quick car and pretty much leave it alone after that....go with the ze.

not if it doesn't have WOT capabilities

well yeah, if money isn't an issue, the ze is a good choice. so is upping the CR of the bpt.

heh...I posted this months ago and I STILL can't decide which is better...seems like it's a tie really.

I'm probably going to go with the BPT, because:

1.) BPT only requires transmission and engine swap where the KL-ZE requires axles and all that good front suspension stuff.

2.) BPT is cheaper, at ~$1000 and has the same HP before mods

3.) BPT is emissions legal ;-)

The thing at A-Spec is a sweet deal. If it were me (and it soon will be cuz I just picked up a 323 HB) I would get the ZE. The BPT requires alot of other stuff to run well like stand alone EMS (Haltech E11 or something). Also, if you get the BPT you will need to get better piping (you dont have to, but its recomended) and a 3" exhaust. My Protege is in the process of BPT swap as we speek, and as soon as thats done the 323 will get its KL. But anyway, I guess I would go with the KL.....

Tell us your progress... I see a lot of people talking about doing the swap, but I don't hear a lot about what happens after. I was thinking of doing the A-spec, although it would sure be a road trip to get up there

Ok thought I'd update this post since it's what encouraged me a long time ago.

We're doing the BPT swap right now. I'd have to warn anyone else that can't decide: BPT is easier to install if you have all the parts and knowledge, but KL-ZE will most likely be cheaper even when done at a shop.

So when you say it is easier, how do you mean? I don't see how it is easier to put the BPT in than takeing the pro to A-spec and letting them deal with the hassle of the KL-ZE.

Ok...but taking a BPT to A-Spec is the same as taking a KL-ZE there.

...I meant DIY vs DIY

The above crossmember is not one that is necessary for a BP-KL car. The crossmember that's necessary is the one that is above that that connects from the front of the engine bay to the rear of it at the subframe. This crossmember holds 2 of the 4 engine mounts . So it's important.
