Calling Clutch Job Experts
#16
I know how hard the clutch job can be the first time around. I just finished doing my clutch job on 91 Pro. Everything came out and off somewhat easy, but it was twice or three times as hard going back in or on. I had the hardest time with the transmission. I got it splined into the clutch disk and started into the hole of the pilot bearing but stop going in for some reason and it was like an inch from having the bell housing contacting the engine. And since it was about an inch all the way around, me and my friend decided to pull it together with bolts....Yeah, yeah, a lot of people out there will say never never never do this and even my instructor(since i'm training to be a mechanic) said never do this. but this one time i did it. We carefully pulled the engine and bull housing together, i didn't have to sit there and reef on it it went very easily so i think everything is fine. Everything else from there went good. And i'm driving it around and everything works fine, have about 40 miles on my new clutch and can't wait until i hit the 450 mile mark so i can apply full pressure.....
oh yeah, for anybody who cares i installed a centerforce dual friction clutch, replaced throw out bearing with a centerforce one, and had the local machine shop lighten my flywheel by a little more then 3 lbs
