I think it bolts up to the tranny, considering the block on the 1.8L DOHC is the same on the 1.8L SOHC.

Yes it bolts up...but you'll eventually want to upgrade to a DOHC tranny. THe SOHC is weaker and won't handle as much power. It's best to upgrade the tranny at the same time, but if you must wait...don't turn up the boost untill you get the DOHC in there.

Also, keep in mind that with an SOHC trany you'll need an SOHC clutch...THe SOHC trany has 20 splines, where the DOHC has 22.

Unfortunately, your sohc clutch probably won't handle much abuse. No hard launches, and you should be ok until you get the LX tranny. Also get a performance clutch (ACT or similar) with the tranny.

my initial plan was to get a motor and transmission all in one but i might not be able to do that if i get the motor and tranny at the same time before i put it in i'll most likely do an act stage 2 clutch kit unless anybody has any better options as a clutch kit i wanna do a stage 2 because i heard stage 3 is hard to drve on the street without riding your clutch a lot i could be wrong if i am feel free to let me know

Stage 2 is more than enough for 90% of street applications...there's no justifiable need to go stage 3.

Stage 3 is only useful if you're wanting biffer calf muscles.
