I think it's probably best to have a piece welded in place - too much chance for leaks with the clamps. Why do you want to take the resonator off? Do you just want it to be louder? Mine was removed by the previous owner b/c it was rusting away from years of water being trapped inside.

i would like it louder. i just had a dynomax super turbo muffler put on, but it still isn't as loud as i'd like. i know a loud car isn't a fast car, but i want people to hear me coming. would it really make that much of a difference?

It's hard to say for sure, a lot depends on the muffler and the rest of the exhaust. Generally, it *should* get louder, but it may also just change the tone of your exhaust, making it drone at certain speeds. Mine sounds good, except it tends to drone at 70-75mph, so I drive 85mph! Sometimes I wish I had a resonator. I would take your car out on the highway and around town for several days/weeks before you do any modification. Make sure you drive at all sorts of different speeds. Hang onto your resonator if you do remove it (unless it's crap like mine was), you may want to put it back on.

cool, thanks a bunch. to me, i don't really care about noise at highway speeds or regular because then i just turn on the cd changer. i rarely use it though. just something about the sounds of the car/road that i like.
