When I poped the hood of my 323 the other day and looked down .. I sware my Jaw dropped.. You will have enough space to fit a huge intercooler under that bumper... Especially if you don't have AC .. (wich my car doesn't ..)
Get the car and then you will see all the space there is .

...umm I just want to add that I think when going from an F series tranny to a G series tranny, you need to swap axles too. I'm not 100% sure though. If I had an a/t G series I'd tell ya. All I have is a spare 5spd G series, and a broken a/t F series.

And if you did a search you would see that there are many conversations about the G VS F trannies... You would know the G is a stronger tranny , but the F has better Gear ratios and is moderatly strong ...
As with any Protege motor swap or 323 motor swap , you will need all the parts to make the tranny work ..
So what do you do?
Take all the parts out the protege and put it in the 323 .. You will basically need everything that is in the protege tranny and clutch side. Plus hydrolics(if 323 is an auto ) to get it working ...
By know I would think that you have a FSM or Chilton or some type of manual that tells you what is different between the two transmissions.
You have to research these things .. and don't rush it ..
Later and have fun
wrong. the F trannies have taller gearing for econo driving... the tranny also physically bolts up to a BP fine, the question is why?

You're planning on getting standalone engine management or the GTX ecu, right?
about the lx tranny....wut? i still need the replace my front brake assembly and hubs??????
i heard there's 3 axles on the lx tranny the one in the middle called intermediate shaft? is that true?

I don't think you NEED to replace them, I think it's just recommended. Am I right guys?

Wink

Pretty sure cablemirc reused his. Of course he needs an LX clutch though, so the car hasn't actually moved yet (last I heard).
