Question $1,000 Challange

Allright guys whats going on?

Me and my brother have kinda set up a challenge. We're going to see who can get their car faster with $1,000. We only have 6 months to do whatever we wish. He's going to turbocharge what do you guys think i should do?? He's got a Geo Storm...1.8 DOCH.
I'm going to switch over to the DOHC also. Do you guys think i could stay N/A and still be faster? I wanna go turbo but i doubt that $1,000 will be enough. There is a guy here that would make me a turbo mani. for 90 bucks, but it's not the best.

We can get the turbo, mani, intercooler & pipeing for the geo all for about 500 bucks. It will be a small turbo, but will do the job for the price. The reason his is so cheap is because it is all from a turbocharged Chevy Spectrum (stock). We will eventually put better stuff on it but it's hard to beat for the price. Then he will still have $500 left for whatever else.

How much do you guys think that it would cost me to stay N/A and be faster? Estimated E.T. on his car is going to be somewhere around 14's.

Put a NOS kit into the car. should get you 50 - 75hp on tap. 500 -600USD bucks for a ZEX wet kit.

The only problem with that is that he is going to be running 14's, I also need to at least run mid 14's. I might just go ahead and do it, and see where it gets me.

I would recommend what most people said: get NOS, a free-flowing exhaust, really good clutch, light weight pulleys, cams,, and what other N/A stuff you can get cheap, and rip off as much weight as possible off of your car. That 1.8 toyota engine in his car is a torquye one, so after he puts turbo on his car, you gotta watch out! You are really going to be pushing your car to its limit to stay close with him. Goodluck.

Well I've done a little bit of research and have gotten a few prices of a few things.....all on e-bay buy it now.....

Garret T-3 Turbo-$100
'90 T-bird Intercooler-$100 (Dimensions-12X8X3 think this would be a good intercooler?? It's off of a Supercharged T-bird.)
BOV-$100
RX-7 Walboro 255 LPH Fuel pump-$100
RX-7 Injectors-$100 (460 cc)
Apexi SAFC-$220

Pipeing-I should be able to get by with $100 if i weld it myself.
Manifold-$90-$200 The $90 is from a guy that is just starting making headers and such on the side. $200 from a reputeable shop here in town.

The grand total comes out to $1,120. Is there anything that i'm forgetting and should add? My brother is allready wanting a time extension, and wants to raise the monetary limit also (haha).
So anything that is unaccounted for here let me know so i can make sure how much I need to raise the money limit by.

Trying to go anything over a 100 shot of Nitrous alone is allready pushing $1,000 and thats only with the Nitrous System. For sure I won't be able to get a clutch, pulleys, cams, etc.. remember I only have $1,000 limit, although that might be going up soon.

Thanks guys I really appreciate all the input.

Just my opinion but a better option for the IC would be a Isuzu NPR IC (the small one). Kinda hard to find, a little more expensive, uless you get lucky but worth it.
