wheel offset

Question wheel offset

I did a search with no luck, so now I'm asking. I'm looking at a set of 17" wheels that list the offset as 4.5 and I have no idea what that is = to. I asked the seller but they were clueless. Can anyone offer up some ideas here? Thanks.

that's probably part of the bolt pattern. The guy doesn't know what he's talking about, or at least what you're asking. I imagine that's part of the 5 x 4.5 description of the bolt pattern.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Too bad, I was liking those rims.
