2nd gen offset ,, what would be recomended

Ok so we know about the 3rd gen offset and the p5 offset , but ARD and Rishe never really seem to bother with posting anything about the 2nd gen proteges or 1st gen , so we get hung out to dry huh???,.
Anyway , I had 16" rims on my car in the picture above and there dimensions were 16x7 @+40 offset, although they fit nice and i was able to tuck the rear tires with no rubbing what so ever , I always wanted them to fill the well more, to be wider.. I am going to be purchasing lightweight 15's or 16's as my next move when it comes to wheals and was considering to go and get a +38 or +35 offset, I saw then on 5ziegen for a set of wheels that they had ,.. What I am curious to know is if I get this offset will it bring my tires out more and give them a wider look , and give the car a wider look .. I don't know if anyone has tried this or ventured into this but some input would be nice. +40 is nice but I just don't like how much the rims are pushed in , I want them our more I want them to stick out some ....

Ofcourse my car is not this low anymore but you get the idea from the pics above .....

Sorry I can't help you out with the exact fitments, but you could just try some 2mm and 5mm spacers before your next wheel purchase to see if the wheels you have now will rub. From your pics it looks like a +35 would be too much, but your suspension isn't completely loaded, meaning it is impossible to tell for sure...

my suspension is never completely loaded, even when I had 3 people in my car one day , I still had no problems at all driving , lol .. OK so +35 is to much ,, maybe I will just stick with +40 then , I figured all these people are saying they want +44 and above on there p5's so they won't rub ,, I really wanted to see what the widest I could go is before rubbing would be an issue ..

Yeah, on my P5 I have a +48mm offset on my current wheels, which is safe by about 3 or 4mm with my 215/40's...So I might experiment with some spacers if the studs check out ok...

FWIW I just meant fully loaded when ever you happed to hit a hard bump, in which if the offset is too low it would rub...

By the way awesome 2nd gen man... I keep showing my girlfriend pictures of yours...Ha, Trying to get her to let me mess around with her 96 LX too...

How much did you pay for the front end? Her car has about 90k miles on it and needs a list of different things replaced. Since I have pretty much takin' over any repair operations on her car, for I can't bare to let her pay ridiculous fee's for common maintanance, I have placed the ordeal in my own hands...It needs some struts and various other normal things (clutch, gear oil change, Tires, WHEELS etc...) and the previous owner seemed to haved scooped up a cow or other large object at high enough speed to crack the front end...I never got a price quote to get it filled or replaced, but since it will probably need a new one eventually as well as painted I figured I could go with something like yours which is much better looking...

I stll can't decide which generation I like better...I love the sleeper first and second gen's...As well as their 1.8L BP's, but I love the wagon and steering of the P5/ES...Damn it I will probably blow all my cash on a car that is not technically mine...

you can get prices on www.corksport.com if you scroll down to the bottom you will see a link to my site , just menuver to my pics and jspec pics and then you will see what is involved in installing the bumper. the support is removed so I don't know if you will want to take that chance.
