2" inches???

Wow, that does look good. And a 50 offset......the most I have heard is 48 for the P5. I wonder if there is a difference between the sedan and the wagon? Have to search.

The 205/45's could be another option....thanks dgilson. Your ride looks good.

Damn, hmmm.....don't know what to do now. I have a little time - the ol' Dunlops are not going to last much longer tho'.

Have to think about this one.

Thanks
Midnight

Go with the 45's I have personally craked 2 rims that were on 40's. I intend to upgrade, besides they help fill up some of that wheel well gap.

A friend of mine has 17/45 and while mine did look alot beter his held up to the dangers of everyday life. Ie, he would hit curbs and stuff and his rims were fine because the sidewall took all the punishment. Im gonna miss riding on ruber bands (40's) I enjoy feeling the road, but I just cant afford to keep them.

Thanks zerocover, the bent rim issue is something to consider also.

nate0123 mentioned that in her post too. (I think it's a "her" because the pix are listed in "Amy's" gallery)

This is important. I do not want to have to buy rims everytime I hit the curb - which I do on occasion.

Anybody else have pix of there P5/Protege on 45's?

Thanks All.
Peace,
Midnight

I went with 215 40 R17 tires as well. With this size, there is enough sidewall to cope with many a Michigan pothole without damaging my rims. And, the overall height of the wheel and tire together is very close to what the car was stock. Remember also that stepping up in width will buy you a little extra sidewall as well, since the "40" number is actually a percentage value of the width (in mm). In other words, if you go with a 205 instead of a 215mm wide tire, your sidewall will be shorter by 4mm.

juddz....how do you like your Ventus(Sp?) tires. I know that the make is important as to the feel of the ride.

I was thinking of getting some Falkens, but due to some of the replys I have gotten, they might be too harsh along with my Tokicos and Espilars.

Thanks,
Midnight

I had the ventus HR-IIs on my old rims (205/40-17s) and I would say the dry handling is fine/acceptable, wet is sub-par, and snow is just stupidly bad

how bad would 45's be with falken tires "cause i know the rim is protected by the"rim protector bar" the sidewall sticks out a little bit or something to that effect
