What do you recommend? Need new tires

Okay, so with only 20,000 miles on my '06 hatch, I'm nearly ready for new tires. Apparently, I'm abusive or these Goodyears just don't last. I want something that performs well (no rolling) but lasts longer than 25,000 miles.

What do you recommend? I have always love Toyo's but I've heard conflicting reviews on the Proxes T1R. I also liked the Yokohama Avid's from my last car.

I've also heard these are good:

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

Yokohama AVS ES100

Kumho ECSTA ASX

Ideas?

Re: Tires

When I had my 3 hatch, my 2nd set of tires were Pirelli P6 all seasons. They had decent reviews on Tire Rack. Gripped really well and came with a 40 or 45,000 mi. warranty. I got them for $164 per tire including the mounting and balancing. I don't know if that's a good price or if I got hosed, but I know it's cheaper than the Michelins. Good luck!

Yokohama gest my vote. I think I will be going that route soon also, as the Kumho ASX have horrible tread wear.

I liked my BF Goodrich KDW2s so much I got a set for all three of my Mazdas. Heh, I even talked my mom into putting a set on her Jaguar, and now she loves 'em too.

The BEST tire I've ever been on in the rain, and damn good on the dry tarmac too. Not the cheapest tires out there, but not too expensive either, and IMO, they're well worth the money.

The tires I have on my FD right now have about 10,000 miles and a trackday at Laguna seca on 'em and they're still going strong.

My vote is with the Kuhmo's, spectacular performance for the price. You have to be good about keeping them rotated though.

Thanks for the responses.

Eggy, I'm looking on their website - Are those the KDW's or KDWS's?

How many miles have you gotten out of them?

If you are looking for a summer tire, my vote goes to the Yokohama AVS ES 100 also.
Great tire for the money.

I just put on a set of Sumitomos this summer, I wanna see how they feel and hold up. But it's only been a few weeks.

KDW2s.

The letters stand for :
K = key
D = dry
W = wet
S = snow

It never snows around my house, so I got the KDW2s. Here's a linky to where I bought mine from:

I'd say I got 22-25k out of the 1st set, but I drive like a madman so expect a little more out of yours.

I have the Kumho's and I love them. It might just be because I had those crappy Goodyear RSAs on there previously though.

they sure are sqeaky going into corners , hydroplaned pretty nice in them last weekend also, though I've had almost a year now. So no big surprise. Atleast they didn't peal off the insides like the original ones that came with the car. O.O
