Has anyone had any experience with this?:

I'd like to place a sub in the spare tire well, but as a precaution, pack one of these babies with me...a good idea? I understand they are making them without butane and/or Propane as a propelent...but does it really work?

 

I have used FIX-A-FLAT before....and it worked like a charm....it beats the crap out of walking down the side of the road out in the middle of nowhere....I always take a can of that stuff on a long trip...

I will tell ya though....guys that work at tire repair shops HATE that stuff with a passion....it makes a mess inside the tire with all the gooey crap to seal your leak...lol

also...they are only good for fixing flats/leaks that are in the tread area of the timre.....not if you have a hole in a sidewall.

OF COURSE....another option is to spend the bucks and put RUN FLAT tires on the car.

I know some people might think that its foolish to be running around town without a spare, but I've only had 3 flats in my life and they generally have been really slow leaks, so this crap should handle such a situation, eh? Anybody else use this stuff?

 

yes they work, i worked in a service station when i was 16, and some old lady came in on a sunday (shop was closed so we couldn't plug a tire) and she was stuck visiting her daughter and wanted some help. used 2 cans of fix-o-flat (generic brand) and the damn thing wouldn't move very far, we used just the two cans to get her to the back end of the garage to be serviced the next day. tire inflators work IF the leak is small and slow, but you have to take it in to get it plugged if you do have a leak... and from what i hear, mechanics hate fixing tires that have that nice foam **** inside after some noob put fix a flat in his tire just to get it down the street.

you ever read the can? the nice little warnings on them, saying **** about not welding on a rim. why do you think you shouldnt put an open flame near the wheel? they teach in the automotive schools out here, that this **** is dangerous and the tire shops hate it.. because when they go to ream the tire. the reamer will hit the steel belt, causing a spark.. and BOOM. Also, if you plan on using one of them.. make sure you tell the tire repair people you did use it... or plan on replacing the tire ASAP. the **** eventually gets hard, and when this happens, you either have to get the wheel rebalanced, or just replace the tire anyway.

 

it gets you to where you want to go... but it is a royal PITA to remove, repair, and reinstall the tire.... the valve gets all fubar, the rim gets all fubar... repairing the busted tire itself is a PITA... sometimes irrepairable! how about NOT ******* with it if you know how to change your tire to a spare?
