Remove tires

Is it possible to remove a set of tires off there wheels, without using any special equiptment. IE at home.

I saw some tool for $100 in a mail order catalog that would do the trick but I dont wanna wait for that ****.
I would like to try repairing a set of wheels that I have lieing around and it would be much easier with out tires.

When I get them patched up Ill still go take them to a pro to get them balanced and stuff of corse.

To REMOVE, yeah - you could do it with two tire irons (kinda' like a bicycle tire, eh?). Have a shop mount them - you need more muscle and air pressure to properly seat them. New stems while you are at it.

Any cracks?
