New rims?

Hey everyone. I had just bought a 03 Pro5. Black Mica, Everything but the leather and the polished rims. I am looking to get 18s ( I am new at the mod portion ) I was wondering if I do get them would i have to get an alignment done, and if the total width and height of the rims and rubber were either smaller or larger then the original 16s, would that cause a problem for the transmition. or anything else. Like the timing? Anything? Thank you!

Todd...

if all you do is put a set of 18's on....NO you don't have to get an alignment done.....if you lower the car...then YES you do.

as for the tire diameter....well you want to stay as close to stock as you possibly can.... if you will use a 205/35/18 tire....the difference is nearly nothing....the diameter of a stock tire is 23.7 and the diameter of the 205/35 is 23.6 the error it will put into your speedometer is when the speedo shows 60...you will actually be doing 59.9

if you want to play around with tire sizes and see what the differences are...and what kind of error you will get...check out this site.

I have a stock '02 P5 all stock. I am NOT going to lower it.

Do you think I can use 215/40WR17 or 215/45WR17 on my car with the right wheels?

Can someone suggest some good wheels to go with these tires?

Thanks!

Hello Dork and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

YES you can run 215/40/17's, they are in fact the closest to the stock diameter......all you need is a wheel that is 7 1/2" wide and has a +48 offset, that is if you have a P5...if you have a sedan all you need is a +45.

Lowering the car really won't have any bearing on this....well it will .... but not in your case. if you use the offsets above your wheel/tires won't rub on the struts or the wheel well or anthing else for that matter.

as for what wheel you could use....my recomendation is to start looking at wheel sites....find a style/make/model you like....then get ahold of Rishie of Auto R&D. you can try to PM him or Email him from the board...his user name is ARD_P5 or look in the RISHIES RECIPE at the top of this forum...and look at the bottom of his first post...and you will find all his contact information including his phone number for his shop....he owns and operates a wheel/tire/suspension shop....he will ship just about anywhere...and gives memebers discounts.
